International Cup - Game 4

Another dissapointing loss for the Canadains. Once again Northwind started poorly failing to execute their passes cleanly. The Bulldogs maintained a constant pressure at every contest and easily turned away Canada's only attack into the forward 50. After one quarter of play the Northwind was lucky to be trailing by only 9 points.

The coaching staff calmed the boys down at the break, refocusing and reminding them of the small things that win games. The boys went back out positive and it showed. They were first to the ball and were winning the free kicks. The kicks were better delivered and Northwind kept control of the ball and locked the play into the attacking 50. The defence shut the Bulldogs out with excellent communication and team work. At the half scores were now level Canada 1.3.9 to Great Britian 1.3.9

It was a whole new game in the second half and things looked positive as Canada moved the ball well and drew first blood with a behind. The Bulldogs took control after that and took back the lead by little more than a goal. Scores after three quarters was Canada 1.4.10 to Great Britian 2.6.18

Once again there was calm in the huddle at the break. The coaches got the boys fired up and the Northwind went out and played a great quarter of footy. Desperation was evident as everyone put their body on the line. Northwind's passing was on and they hit the front with 6 minutes remaining. Their first victory close at hand however the Bulldogs were not done and answered right back off the centre bounce. Canada once more delivered the ball deep into the attacking fifty and mantian the pressure but failed to score. The bulldogs cleared the ball and qucikly moved it into our back line where they kick another behind at the final siren to seal the victory for Great Britian.

The coaching staff was at a loss to explain the lack of wins this tournament. The Northwind has lost all four games by a combined total of 28 points. The team could just as easily be 4-0 today.

Canada 0.0.0 1.3.9 1.4.10 3.5.23
Britain 1.3.9 1.3.9 2.6.18 3.7.25

Goal Kickers: Mark Van Gelder-2, Adam Siddiqui-1
Best on Ground: Adam Siddiqui, Adrian Lagan, Yoni Moussadji, Andrew Nisker

Hi guys
It's me again from northern ontario, I've been watching your games on the satellite and it's not the fact of winning, but how you play the game. You've all played very well and believe me it shows. Can't wait to see you play against spain, the game gets so intense that I feel my heart lift and pounds right into my throat! Now that's excitement when you become a part of the game! I am so very proud of you, no matter what happens, win or lose, you will always be my very special team...

Keep up the good work, good sportsmanship always goes a long way.

Yours Always,

Miss Vinamarie Duguay

Scooter! You're still alive? Kidding. Good to see you're keeping up with the tournament.

What satellite channel are the games being shown on?

comment August 11, 2005 | Lockie:

Hell of a job fellas! Unlucky, that's all. Any of the games could have easily gone the other way. South Africa will fall.

Ms. Duguay, what satellite are you pointed at to get the games?
