The board of AFL Canada is looking to fill the vacant position of Head Coach of the National Team. We are looking for an individual to fill this volunteer position for a one year term. After the term, a review will be done with the Board and Head Coach to see if both parties choose to carry on the arrangement through to the 2008 International Cup.
We are looking for an experienced coach who understands the processes put in place over the last couple of years. The indivual will need to be a good communicator, organized, with a good knowledge of the game. The individual will be responsible for organizing and conducting the winter training sessions (at the Hangar in Toronto); assembling their own staff (coaches, medical, management) with consideration of the western provinces; and conducting regular meetings with players and staff and keep the AFL Board up to date.
Recruiting players through a network, the Head Coach will develop to cover east and west. This will ensure that players from coast to coast will be given an equal opportunity for selection. Set standards for skills and fitness to create equal footing for all players. Encourage past players to stay involved in the national team program.
If you are interested in applying please forward your resume with covering letter to Mike McFarlane, AFL Canada President via e-mail (lottaspike@telus.net). Closing date will be November 7th, 2005 with a final decision by November 15th, 2005. All resumes will be kept confidential and only seen by members of the AFL Canada Board. I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to apply for this position. Only final candidates will be contacted.
