David Smith – Chair

Chair of Nomination Committee 

David Smith has served on the AFL Canada Board of Directors as Treasurer since 2017, as well as various volunteer roles with the Sydney Giants. Based in Sydney, Nova Scotia, David has improved AFL Canada’s accounting systems, overseen annual budget and spending decisions, and ensured the long-term sustainability of the organization. 

David brings an accounting background and strong professional experience working in the audit department of the Canada Revenue Agency.

Caroline Leduc – Vice-Chair

Caroline Leduc has served on the AFL Canada Board of Directors since 2022. She has also volunteered with AFL Quebec as Director in 2023 and Vice President since 2024, and the Ottawa Swans as part of the Communications Committee. Based in Mirabel, Quebec, Caroline has worked to strengthen AFL Canada’s bylaws and policies, advance the development of the National Women’s+ and Men’s Programs, and support local clubs and leagues across the country.

Caroline is currently completing her PhD and brings a professional background in organizational psychology and organizational development. She is fully bilingual and has helped ensure AFL Canada communications are provided in both French and English.

Jack Wynne – Treasurer

Chair of Finance & Audit Committee

Jack Wynne has volunteered with the Toronto Rebels since 2022, serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and President and overseeing matters related to finance, recruitment, sponsorship, events, and planning. 

Based in Toronto, Ontario, Jack brings professional experience in financial administration. He also has experience with both local and national Boards, serving in Secretary and Financial Oversight roles. 

Mabel Dunn – Player’s Representative – Women

Mabel has served on the AFL Canada Board of Directors as Player Representative: Women since 2025, and has represented Team Canada Northern Lights since 2022. She served as part of the Governance & Ethics Committee and contributed to the advancement of AFL Canada policies. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Mabel is also President of the Calgary Kookaburras.

Mason Shoebridge – Player’s Representative – Men

Mason Shoebridge has represented Team Canada Northwind since 2023, when he competed in the 49th Parallel Cup. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Mason has also served on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Kangaroos, where he primarily handled Sales & Merchandise. 

Mason brings sport governance experience gained over more than 15 years in competitive rowing, where he was responsible for budget allocation, financial oversight, recruitment, and high-performance.

Haley Jones – Director at Large

Haley Jones has served on the AFL Canada Board of Directors since 2021. In that time, she has contributed to the Finance & Audit Committee helping to strengthen AFL Canada’s revenue, fundraising, and financial management. Currently based in Queensland, Australia, Haley has been a long-time member of the Toronto Central Blues and Team Canada Northern Lights. 

Professionally, Haley brings financial, project management, and investment management expertise.

Justin Robertson – Director at Large

Justin Roberston has been involved in Australian Rules Football in Canada for more than 15 years. Based in Toronto, Ontario, he has served as President and Head Coach of the Toronto Dingos, overseeing planning, sponsorship, and game development, along with an active role in marketing, event planning, and alumni engagement.

Professionally, Justin brings extensive experience in communications, media, and strategy. 

Trent McIlroy – Director at Large

Trent McIlroy has extensive experience volunteering in footy across Canada. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Trent has been Vice President of AFL BC, President of the Hamilton Wildcats, and Assistant Coach of the Northern Lights National Team. He has led efforts to drive participation, increase development opportunities, and align coaching standards across provinces. 

Professionally, Trent brings experience in leadership, governance, finance, and sales.
