AFL Canada Coach Education Program
AFL Canada Members have access to AFL Coaching Courses and the AFL Coach Accreditation Modules for free.
The AFL’s Coach Accreditation system uses a points-based approach to help coaches progress through five accreditations: Registered, Registered Accredited, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The points system encourages participation in various learning opportunities, including online modules, face-to-face workshops, practical coaching, demonstrations, observations, mentoring, and self-directed learning.

Become an Accredited Coach In 3 Steps
To become an accredited AFL Canada Coach, candidates must submit the below certifications to development@aflcanada.com.
Complete the AFL Coach Accreditation Modules
- Visit coach.afl
- Register to Coach
- Complete Your Coaching Profile
- Complete Welcome to Coaching
- Complete Senior Essentials Course
- Complete Additional Courses to achieve Bronze Level Certification
Complete Safe Sport Training
- Visit the Coaching Association of Canada
- Click Take the Training On the Locker
- Create an Account on the Locker
- Select Multi-Sport > Safe Sport Training > Multi-Sport
- Complete the Safe Sport Modules for Coaches
- Additional Training Resources are available for further development
Complete an RCMP or Local Police Volunteer Background Check
- Contact AFL Canada and request a letter of recommendation
- Provide this to the local police agency – in most cases, this waives the fee for the background check
- Share the results of the background check with AFL Canada
Get Your AFL Canada Coach Board
Certified AFL Canada Coaches get access to an Official AFL Canada Coach Board.
Upon submitting your certification and background check, AFL Canada will send you a Coach Board.
Coaches also gain access to additional resources and development opportunities throughout the year.
