Donate to AFL Canada

AFL Canada is a recognized Registered Amateur Athletics Association (RCAAA) meaning that Individuals or Corporations can make donations to the organization in order to assist in fulfilling AFL Canada goals through projects and programming.

AFL Canada will issue official donation receipts to donors for Tax Purposes.

There are various methods and streams for donating to AFL Canada, see below for more information:

Unconditional donations:

For those who want to financially support AFL Canada.

Donated funds do not need to be directed toward a specific purpose. AFL Canada’s Board of Directors is able to direct the funding to the area they see most necessary.

CONditional donations:

For those who are looking to support a specific area of development, these streams include:

Team Canada Individual Donations – Transatlantic Cup 2024:

    • All players selected for the Transatlantic Cup are amateur athletes, meaning they cover their own expenses whilst representing Canada at the 2024 Transatlantic Cup.
    • You can now donate to your favourite Northwind or Northern Lights players to help cover some of the expenses while they represent Canada. All funds received will go directly to players (minus bank and credit card fees if applicable). 
    • Expense for players may include:
      • Accomodation –  Up to $2,500
      • Airfare/Travel – Up to $1,000
      • Daily Expenses (Food, transport, etc) – Up to $1,500.
      • This does not take into account taking time off work, and the costs associated in preparing for the Transatlantic Cup.
    • IMPORTANT: Please include the name of the player you are looking to support in the notes accompanying the donation (see ‘How to Donate’ below). Any donations received without this information will be directed to the National Teams Donation stream below.
    • Donation Window will close on July 25, 2024 at 5pm EST.

National Teams Donations:

    • All funds received are directed toward the expenses related to AFL Canada’s National teams – the Northwind and the Northern Lights.
    • Both teams participate in tournaments yearly as well as conduct multiple regional and national camps each year.
    • Expenses may include:
      • Accommodation and flights for tournaments and camps.
      • On-field playing kit for tournaments including jumpers, shorts and socks.
      • Off-field kit for tournaments.
      • Field rentals and other training camp costs.
      • Other tournament costs (ie, videographer, etc).
      • Professional Development fees.

Junior Program Donations:

    • Junior programming is the major focus of AFL Canada and is seen as the major development and sustainability pathway for the organization moving forward.
    • Junior Programming may include:
      • Auskick Centres
      • Kinderkick Centres
      • Kangakick Centres
      • School programming
      • Junior leagues
    • Donations will be put toward expenses such as:
      • Equipment
      • Playing kit
      • Staffing
      • Field rentals and insurance.

Provincial Grants Program

    • AFL Canada dedicates a budget toward the Provincial Grants Program. You can donate toward and build that budget through this stream.
    • This grants program is designed to help Leagues develop through various programs and projects.
    • Each province has different programming goals and objectives, you can check in with that league or check their websites to see what those programs are.
    • Donations must be accompanied by the League Program you are looking to donate to.
HOw to donate:

Donating by Cheque:

  • Cheques will need to be made out to Australian Football League Canada and mailed to:
    • 39 Lombard St, Sydney River, Nova Scotia. B1S3K1.
  • The cheque will need to be accompanied by the following information (either included in the package or by email to donate@aflcanada.com):
    • Donor’s full name.
    • Donor’s full address.
    • Donor contact email.
    • The donation stream for which the funds are intended.
  • Donors will receive an official donation receipt from AFL Canada upon payment.

Donating by E-Transfer:

  • Donations can be sent via e-transfer to donate@aflcanada.com
  • Donors will receive an official donation receipt from AFL Canada upon payment.
  • The E Transfer will need to be accompanied by the following information (either included in the transfer notes or by a separate email to donate@aflcanada.com):
    • Donor’s full name.
    • Donor’s full address.
    • Donor contact email.
    • The donation stream for which the funds are intended.

Donating by Credit Card:

  • Donations can be made via credit card through the following form
  • Donors will need to include in the notes of the purchase the intended program they want their donation to go towards
  • Donors will receive an official donation receipt from AFL Canada upon payment.
