AFL Canada is excited to announce the appointment of Greg Bridges as National Development Manager.
Greg brings more than a decade of experience playing, coaching, and volunteering in footy in Canada, as well as a strong professional background that will make him a valuable asset to the organization.
“AFL Canada has an incredible opportunity to introduce more people to this great game through new junior and youth initiatives, club and social leagues, and our High Performance National Programs,” said Greg. “I look forward to working with clubs, leagues, and volunteers from across the country as we continue to grow and develop footy in Canada.”
Since being introduced to footy by the Halifax Dockers in 2013, Greg has gone on to play for his hometown Ottawa Swans. He has represented Canada as a member of the Northwind since 2017 and has played internationally in Australia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the US.
A long-time volunteer, Greg spent time on the Board of the Ottawa Swans before joining the AFL Canada Board of Directors in 2021.
He also served as Men’s Head Coach with the Swans for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
“Greg has a long history with AFL Canada, and we look forward to him continuing to support our goals of increasing participation, developing talent, and promoting the game to new audiences,” said Lachlan Griffiths, Chair of AFL Canada. “His passion and knowledge for the sport, along with his professional background in Marketing, make him a great addition to our team.”
AFL Canada would like to thank outgoing Executive Director Jacob Haeusler for his lasting contributions to the organization.
Jacob most recently organized the highly successful AFL Transatlantic Cup in Toronto. He also worked tirelessly to introduce new Junior and school programs, strengthen AFL Canada’s governance and policies, attract new sponsors and strategic partners, and support the National Teams at various international events.
Greg will be starting as National Development Manager immediately. Please reach out to him for any footy related questions, ideas, or initiatives.
