Parallel Cup Details – How to watch & what to expect!

It’s Parallel Cup week in Canada!

International Footy is back in Canada and after months and months of planning its time to bounce that ball – if you’re just catching up on all the Parallel Cup action, you can check out the articles below:

Getting to the field / What to expect at the field:

The Australian Football Field at Colonel Samuel Smith Park is where it will all go down – 3145 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke, ON M8V 4B6

DRIVING:

If driving please note that Kipling Avenue is closed in both directions just north of lakeshore avenue forcing a detour if you’re coming from that direction. No more than 5 minutes or so as a detour but plan accordingly!

Lakeshore avenue has also had some road closures westbound for some train track work.

PUBLIC TRANSIT:

The TTC/GO Train will drop you right at the field!

Either get the GO train to Long Branch then the 501 bus to Humber University or get the 501 bus along lakeshore all the way to the Unviersity. Always check Google Maps for the quickest route on gameday!

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY:

A huge day of Footy planned!

  • 10.30am EST – AFL Ontario Women’s Game (Etobicoke Kangaroos vs Central Blues)
  • Midday EST – Open Umpire Education session hosted by Derek Govier (AFL Canada Head Umpire) – More info to come!
  • 1pm EST – Canada vs USA Development Squad Game
  • 3pm EST – Northwind vs USA Revolution in the 49th Parallel Cup.

FOOD:

Food from East Food Truck will be at the ground for your convenience – AFL Canada is currently negotiating some other options so stay tuned!

DRINK:

AFL Canada will have some hydration stations setup – the forecast is sunny and warm so stay hydrated!!

COMMENTARY TEAMS

AFL Canada is thrilled to announce that both the Development Squad Game and Parallel Cup will be broadcast with full commentary.

We’re also happy to share that an all AFL Nova Scotia commentary team will be taking the reigns:

  • Patrick McNeil – Sydney Giants (AFLNS) member and play-by-play caller for the Cape Breton Eagles (QMJHL. Patrick also commentated the AFL Canada Nationals in 2018.
  • David Smith – Sydney Giants (AFLNS) member and AFL Canada Director for the last 5 years.
